Title

Quantity of Irrigation Water:

The quantity of irrigation water is determined by the weather parameters such as air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, solar radiation, plant species and the soil type. It is important to determine the right amount of water to be used in the irrigation process, taking into consideration that the soil should not be saturated with water or deprived of it to the extent of reaching stress levels of drought. The followings are general guidelines for the irrigation of trees:
In summer: trees should be irrigated on a daily basis.
In spring and autumn: trees should be irrigated once every two days.
In winter: trees should be irrigated once or twice a week.

Usage: It is preferable to fertilize fruit trees with organic fertilizers (totally decomposed) during the winter season that is during the months of December and January.

Irrigation Time:

Early morning (before sunrise) when temperatures are mild in spring, autumn and winter.
In the evening (at sunset) during summer season to avoid diurnal temperature rise and consequent increase in evapotranspiration (evaporation from soil surface and transpiration from plants).
