Technology In Agriculture
The 2014 Bahrain International Garden Show carried the slogan "Technology in Agriculture", to emphasize the existence of technological solutions to the challenges facing the agricultural sector in the Kingdom, which are water scarcity and scarcity of agricultural land. The use of technology has become essential for the sustainability of this vital sector as agriculture in the Kingdom of Bahrain can no longer be practiced in the old traditional ways.
Today we find that a number of modern technological solutions have been devised to raise agricultural productivity, including vertical agriculture to solve the problem of agricultural land scarcity, hydroponics to solve the problem of water scarcity, as well as greenhouse agriculture using solar energy to solve the problem of electricity.
